Day 8: Buenos Aires

We landed in Sao Paolo at 5:30 this morning and then sat on the plane for an hour and a half before continuing on to Buenos Aires, where we landed at 9:45am. We got through customs and passport control quickly and found our car service easily, but we beat the rental company to the apartment by about 30 minutes. Luckily, the doorman let us in so we could wait inside.

After meeting with the apartment rental company, we set off to find lunch and explore the neighborhood of Palermo Soho. We ended up eating a fabulous meal at the trendy Bar Uriarte and then walking around Palermo Soho and Palermo Hollywood, which both have tons of cute restaurants and boutiques.

When we got back to the apartment, we decided that it was just a bit too crusty for our tastes, especially since we will be in Buenos Aires for 8 nights. We did a little online research and found a relatively reasonable hotel (the Marriott Plaza) which has a pool, fitness room, laundry etc - amenities that come in handy when you're on the road this long. We are now happily established in our lovely room at the Marriott, with a balcony and a king-size bed.

Here are our new digs:

We have splurged on a room service dinner and are going to begin our serious exploration of Buenos Aires tomorrow.

More to come...
