After lunch, I showed Frank one of my favorite spots in London - the dome of St. Paul's. We sat up inside the dome in the Whispering Gallery but had no luck getting the sound to carry from one side of the dome to the other. We also walked up to the Stone Gallery, which is an outside area with fantastic views of London. This is a very bird's eye view of the square where we had lunch. (The Saint restaurant is the area with brown awnings in the top corner of the square, near the gold top of the monument.)
This evening we met up with another friend, Philippe, at his flat for drinks and then had dinner nearby at an Asian-French fusion restaurant called L'Etranger. We were wined and dined and then taken on a tour of the South Kensington area as well as the most adorable Mews that looked like it was straight out of 200 years ago. The whole area was absolutely gorgeous. And we don't have photos but Philippe's flat is stunning and has high ceilings and an enormous bow window in the living room area.
We are going to be sad to leave London tomorrow - it really is such a beautiful and comfortable city to explore - but we're very excited to actually begin the Round the World tour portion of the trip and experience Argentina!
Oh, and in response to some of the comments that have been left:
Sandy: the Italian food was absolutely fantastic. Luckily, Winchester seems cosmpolitan enough to have some actual Italians cooking. The Indian food was also probably the best I've had in either NY or London.
Nad: Here is another squirrel picture for you. My city-born husband got a little nervous when the squirrel ran toward him at high speed to get the peanut and he ended up dropping it and letting the squirrel pick it up from the grass. Extremely funny but not as funny as the squirrel running around with the most gigantic walnut I've ever seen in its mouth trying to find a spot to bury it.
Also, the first photo in Frank's last blog posting is a picture of the Diana/Dodi memorial in Harrod's. There is a crowd of people in front of it, but you can make out the photos of the heads of Diana and Dodi sort of in the center.
