Then we went in search of lunch and ended up at The Crown and Anchor, another of Winchester's excellent pubs.
We wandered on a footpath north of Winchester, past a "private angling club" with men set up at various points along the river apparently fishing for trout. Frank the City Boy managed to avoid any more run-ins with wild ducks, but we DID see a field full of rabbits - which were adorable - and two cows. Luckily there was a fence separating us from the ferocious creatures...
In the late afternoon, we met up with Juliet's sister, Evelyn, and her boyfriend David (who are moving to Cyprus in August). We had a few pitchers of Czech beer at the Pitcher and Piano and then a fabulous Italian meal at one of their favorites, Prezzo. Our last stop was Mix for fancy schmancy cocktails. Here is a lovely photo of the four of us in front of a dumpster near David's apartment (taken by two drunken girls who first did a video clip of us by mistake).
Tomorrow morning we are off to London...

ReplyDeleteSaw the latest blog and saw it was another gray day. That reminds me of the quote by P.D.James "It was one of those perfect English Autumnal days that occur more frequently in memory than in life." By the way, Frank that internet server of mine won't work with this site unless I go through Firefox. [I hate computer changes!!!] Play On!!

ReplyDeleteAww, a field of bunnies on Easter? How perfect!
How was Italian food in England? I wouldn't think to eat it there, but luckily you have some locals who know what they're doing!
Can't wait for your next post!
Ha ha, love the drunken photo. Was so good spending time with you both. Looking forward to reading/seeing more of your trip.
ReplyDeleteSee you,
Evelyn
