We made our way up the winding hill to the castle on top for the these spectacular views.
I took this video when we descending back towards the coast.

We had a quick bite to eat as the sun came out and we spent the rest of the afternoon on the beach. Dave & I successfully swam out to one of the various floating platforms in the bay. Underestimating the distance, we agreed when we reached the dock that the ocean humbled us a little. Not that I was ever casual about Rudy's Ironman competitions but I have a new respect for what he goes through in those events.
(Dave & I contemplating how to get back alive)
At night we strolled back to the old quarter and found a great restaurant for dinner. Plus a little gelato on the way home made it an excellent vacation day.

I like the ladder/slide on the platform. Did you use it for your return swim?
ReplyDeleteIt's only 2.4 miles (3.86 Kilometers - because we know you love the metric system now). So non-stop swimming for me for about 90 minutes. Pros do it in about 52.
