Day 29: Easter Island
Just when I thought today would be uneventful as most of our day would be spent traveling from Easter Island back to Santiago. After a quick breakfast the owner of the hotel in Easter Island drove us to the airport and we got into a minor fender bender, Apparently someone tried to make a left turn from the right hand curb just as we were passing by. As I was facing backward in the van all I could see was the side of our van side swipe another van and mirror pieces go flying. Everyone was perfectly fine but the door of the van we were in took some good dents and it would not open fully when we arrived at the airport. Since we were concerned that the small Moai necklaces that were given to us as we departed the hotel might be back luck we decided to take them off before boarding the plane. We are now back in Santiago for two days before taking our longest flight of our trip across the Pacific Ocean to New Zealand. We couldn't decide over dinner and a couple of bottles of wine if the Moai necklaces are bad luck and caused the accident or they are good luck and the accident was supposed to be worse...

Once again...was riveted to every word and picture. Awesome. What an adventure you two are having. How many dishes do you think you would have to wash if you had no money available. Just when you think you thought of everything, who looked at the exp on your card...but will be a lesson for other travelers you know. Who feeds all the dogs? I love the horses galloping thru the roads. You have some great pictures of sunsets and sunrises. Keep enjoying !
ReplyDeleteThis was quite a blog. I was most impressed with the Maoi and very concerned about the dogs and the guide named Frieda. The sunrise looks miraculous.
ReplyDeleteDaddy says the dogs were just schnorers. :)
