When Frank got up, we got ready and went out in search of some late morning breakfast, which ended up being drinks from the ubiquitous Coffee Heaven and a waffle with powdered sugar.
The Coffee Heaven is located in the ground floor of the Crooked House, which Frank mentioned yesterday. This photo is a "Where's Waldo?" that requires some looking to find me.
Here is an interesting statue that is balanced on a wire across the street in front of the Crooked House.
This is the bustling main street, with all of the cafes, restaurants, and shops.
On our walk back to the hotel, we found a small rose garden off the main street.
When we got to the street that runs along the beach, we decided to explore a little in the opposite direciton of the hotel.
This is a view of the street, which has entrances to the beach periodically and also has a ton of stands selling beach toys and souvenirs.
We went back to the hotel and changed into bathing suits, but we were on our beach chairs all of 10 or 15 minutes before it started to look ominous and rain. It was time for lunch anyway, so we ran into our hotel and had an overpriced but very good lunch. For those who like to tease me about my detailed food descriptions, Frank had a fancy grilled chicken Caesar salad and I had a rock crab salad with salmon and pesto.
Since it was still raining, we read in the hotel library area for a while and then did some blogging/catching up on emails in our room. Here is a photo Frank took from our balcony of the "pirate ship" tour that leaves from the pier.
In the evening, we walked the twenty minutes down the street that runs along the beach to Tawerna Rybaki - a fish place that was recommended in the guide book. It was still raining so the terrace was closed, but we got to sit by a window on the second floor.
Afterwards, we took a walk all the way back to the main street and then all the way down to the end of it. We stopped at Cafe Ferber to end the evening with some piwa and some people watching.
I think we both agree that the relaxed beach atmosphere of Sopot is just what we were in the mood for, and the rain was the perfect excuse to be extra lazy after all our running around for the past week.
Fingers crossed for some sun tomorrow though!
